This grand full-day excursion visits four of the best of Washington’s rich collection of historic hotels, all decorated for the holidays. Career travel writer and photojournalist Trish Foxwell, leads the tour of hotels and suites, and imparts intriguing stories, information about the architecture of the historic properties and the famous personalities associated with them. The tour begins at the Willard InterContinental in the Round Robin Bar with a tour, and behind the scenes visits to some suites and the historic gallery at the end of Peacock Alley. At the St. Regis Hotel, we enjoy lovely tea, coffee and pastries, and hear commentary on the hotel’s history. At the Mayflower Hotel, we are treated to a delicious three-course private luncheon in the Senate Room with a slide presentation by Ms. Foxwell, and a tour of the Presidential Suite and grand ballroom plus the History Gallery on the Mezzanine. The day ends at the Jefferson Hotel with an afternoon Christmas Tea, including cookies, plus viewings of two special suites.
