| Event Description |
The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, takes place each year on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. This is the date of the Autumn Equinox, when the moon is at its farthest point from the earth and hence appears bright and completely round.
Traditionally, the Moon Festival marks the end of the summer harvest. To the farmers of China, the festival is a celebration of thankfulness for heaven's bounty. It has been celebrated by the Chinese people since the first century. It is a time of gathering for family and friends, similar to the Christmas and Thanksgiving in the west.
There is a complete package of entertainments, including the "Celebrity Impersonating Contest", raffle drawing, magic shows, live band, folk dance and martial arts. One of the highlights is the "Moon Cake Expo". We have invited many of the famous moon cake makers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan to present the most complete variety of Moon Cakes to everyone from 06' Moon Festival. There are approximately 100 booths with TV channels, satellite TVs, newspapers, and banks with many freebies given to visitors, and there are many booths that carry many of the unique items, including novelty arts, cultural hand crafts and souvenirs.
We hope you will enjoy your experience at 2006 Moon Festival.
