Ah, love... The opening of this comic opera finds Nemorino, a poor peasant, in love with Adina, a beautiful landowner, who torments Nemorino with her apparent indifference. Dulcamara, a quack with bottled cures for every ailment, empties Nemorino's pockets for a love potion. If only love was as easy as a mere flask of wine! Complications arise in the form of the dashing Belcore, suitor to Adina and, eventually, her fiancé in a hastily arranged marriage ceremony. But all is not lost! Adina realizes her true affection for Nemorino, and—in addition to love—Nemorino receives an unexpected inheritance. Of course, they will live happily ever after.
